Buku Aqal Dalam Islam: Satu Tinjauan Epistimologi ini diterbitkan bertujuan untuk mengemukakan semula kefahaman Islam berkenaan peranan dan kedudukan aqal, khasnya dalam ruang lingkup saluran-saluran utama ilmu sebagaimana yang telah dirumus dan diterangkan secara sepadu dan adil dalam kitab-kitab aqidah muktabar. Tema-tema penting yang diteliti dan ditekuni dalam buku ini dibahagi kepada tiga bab iaitu; Kaitan sekaligus perbezaan antara aqal dan aqal fikiran, khasnya dalam keadaan kefahaman semasa yang cenderung menyamakan antara kedua-duanya; selain itu membincangkan hubungan antara aqal dengan khabar (naqal), terutamanya dalam konteks kecenderungan dalam sebahagian masyarakat Muslim kini yang memperseterukan antara kedua-duanya; dan perbezaan serta jalinan antara aqal dan otak, lebih-lebih lagi dalam suasana akademik semasa yang ghairah menguna pakai apa-apa sahaja yang datang daripada sains moden.
